Why digitize photos?

I've spent many hours organizing pictures. It's actually a real passion for me to put some order in pictures. But it was always such a messy job and the pictures still ended up in boxes. Even though I've created many albums through out the years, pictures would often fade and sometimes I lost some of my precious memories. But now I've scanned all of them, organized them in my computer and it is so easy to find a picture to share with family and friends.
